Our Story
Moka & Co was born from the shared passion of a diverse group of friends who believed coffee could be more than a beverage—it could be a cultural experience rooted in heritage, design, and community. Inspired by the rich traditions of Yemeni coffee, the founders set out to create a premium café concept that honors coffee’s origins while presenting it in beautifully designed, welcoming spaces. Although Moka & Co officially launched in 2024, the idea first began years earlier inside a beloved Yemeni restaurant in Dearborn, Michigan, where guests were introduced to authentic Yemeni coffee traditions. After the global pandemic paused the original concept, the vision returned stronger than ever: to build a modern lifestyle brand centered around the world’s oldest coffee culture.
The name Moka & Co is inspired by the historic Port of Mokha in Yemen, one of the most important coffee trading ports in history and the gateway through which coffee first reached the world. The “& Co.” reflects the relationships and partnerships that make the brand possible—from fair-trade collaborations with coffee farmers in Yemen to the communities that gather in our cafés. These connections represent the spirit of collaboration, hospitality, and shared experience that defines everything we do.
